Five Signs of Dangerous Skin Moles

Some moles are harmless and actually become a part of you. They don’t mean much and as long as you keep the sunscreen up, and don’t go and lie in a tanning bed, things are fine. Please, don’t go and use a tanning bed, you will end up with skin cancer if you do. We all know that this is the last thing that you want, right? However there are also dangerous skin moles and you need to be able to know how to spot them without going to the doctor. In order to help you with this, here are five signs that a skin mole should be checked out in more detail. Keep reading to find out more!

Colour Changes

The first indication that a mole could potentially be cancerous is a significant change in colour. If you see this, or any patches around the mole, head to your doctor.

It is a common fact that moles come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes so you can relax. However, anything with a diameter that is more than 6mm should probably be checked out by your doctor – just to be safe.

If the mole has a border that seems to be blurred or blotchy, it is probably cancerous.

Asymmetry or Irregularity

An asymmetrical border could be bad news for what would otherwise be a seemingly normal mole. Pay attention to any blemishes where one half does not match the other as this could mean that you need to pop into your doctor.

Finally, one sign that a mole could be cancerous is any indication that the features are changing. Get it checked out if this is the case.

No Need to Worry

Now that you know what you should worry about, it is probably a good idea to give some peace of mind. There are a number of ways you can cope with skin cancer. It can be cut out and you can carry on living the life you are used to. However, there are also practical issues that you need to consider. Things like whether or not you need to take time off work and if you do, how much can you take? Who do you tell? It is strongly advised that you find a therapist who will be able to help you through everything.

Your Canine Friend is there to Help You

Man’s best friend, the beloved dog, has been proven to be able to detect cancer. Studies have shown that trained German shepherd dogs can sniff out the chemicals linked to prostate cancer with incredible accuracy. The fact that dogs have the ability to detect is incredible in a world where we rely on medication for everything. This is a fantastic alternative resource. The amazing claims that dogs can sniff cancers has been proven by an Italian study that was reported in the Journal of Urology earlier on in the year.

Cancer need not be a death sentence, you can live your life happily and cancer free. What helps is a number of things. Firstly, always have a positive attitude towards life. It doesn’t help to be miserable, you will only make it worse. This will only make you feel worse. If need be, get on anti-depressants to help you cope. Your doctor will be able to advise you about which ones are best for you.

The next thing you need to do is surround yourself with as much support as possible. Whether its family, friends or a support group doesn’t matter; get as much support as you can in order to make sure things stay on track. You never know when you might have a down day after all (and they do happen).

Another great suggestion is to find new hobbies. Things that take your mind off being ill in a healthy way will do wonders with keeping you pre-occupied. Think of reading, arts and crafts, light walks and journaling. These are all cathartic in their own way. Journaling will also help you put things into perspective over time. It has been proven to help with a wide variety of situations and in general. You can burn it afterwards if you would like or keep it as a form of reflection.

Now that you know how to detect potentially cancerous moles, how to deal with the worst news and what you can do once this happens, your mind should be a lot more at ease. It is not a death sentence and you can live a fulfilling life no matter what happens!
